Thrive Stories – Liz Ogreen

I grew up in church, but it wasn’t until I was in college that I began to understand who God really was.
I went to college here in Central Michigan before Thrive existed and a week after graduation my husband and I moved to West Virginia. How did we get back here?
We followed Thrive the entire time we lived in WV from its very beginnings via Facebook. Last summer my husband and I felt like it was time to move on to our next great adventure. We didn’t have any idea where to go, so during my forty-five minute commute through the Appalachian foothills to work last summer I prayed everyday God would give us a clear sign on what to do. I got my clear sign, when I got the call that I would no longer have a job in the fall. So just like that we knew we were headed somewhere. Where did God open all the doors? Right here in Central Michigan. So our church family at the time laid hands on us, prayed for us, and sent us on our way.
What I love about Thrive is that it feels like we are striving to be the true definition of a church family. I also love that this church cares deeply about the next generation and that my daughter gets to learn about Jesus in an environment designed just for her! I love that Thrive challenges me to think deeper, love harder, and grow in my relationship with Jesus. I know that even though life can be really hard sometimes God can take the broken pieces and makes something amazingly beautiful.
